The 2016 Canterbury inter-school chess competitions are now complete.

Canterbury pupils played over 1700 games of chess in the competitions, even more if you count the numerous friendly games between rounds! Thanks to everyone involved in organising and supporting the 171 four person teams who took part and the many schools who hosted the competitions.

Congratulations to the winners of the term 2 competitive competitions, Waimairi (year 1-6) and Cobham (year 7-8). Waimairi and Cobham proceed on to the national finals in Palmerston North.

Congratulations to the winners of the South Island Championships, George Street (Otago, year 1-6) and Cobham (year 7-8).
